The Power of a Chevy Camaro Cold Air Intake

Here’s Why You Should Have a Camaro Cold Air Intake

No matter how you slice it, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is one heck of a car. It’s powerful, fast, responsive, and looks incredible. But if you’re a Camaro owner, you’re probably always wondering how you can improve it a bit, eke out a little more performance, or make it truly stand out in some way. That’s part of the fun of owning it, right? A ridiculously easy way to accomplish that is with a Camaro cold air intake, particularly our Elite Carbon Series cold air intake. In the video below, we turn to Lonestar Hawaiian on Youtube for an in-depth look at installing this system in his dream car, the Camaro ZL1. What do you think?

Check Out the Camaro Cold Air Intake

This particular cold air intake fits onto a 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, or 2021 Chevy Camaro ZL1 with a 6.2L V8 engine. The kit comes with the air box, intake tube, air filter, coupler, stainless steel clamps, and installation manual. The clear plexiglass viewing window in the air box is very functional in that it helps you monitor the filter for replacement, but it also brings some major style points when you pop the hood. The epoxy finish on the air box and intake tube also add a nice shine underneath the hood.

The Elite Carbon Series for this Camaro cold air intake is really something special. The system produces all the same great benefits of the Elite Series system (i.e., more power, better fuel efficiency, and cooler sound), but the air box and intake tube pieces are constructed from a beautiful and glossy carbon fiber. Because carbon fiber is lightweight, strong, and resistant to temperature changes, it’s the ideal material to use on your Camaro. It reduces the weight compared to other aftermarket air intakes constructed of metal. Also, the carbon fiber air box naturally maintains a cooler temperature than a metal or plastic material would, which improves your power and fuel efficiency even more. It’s the perfect solution for a Camaro owner.

Installing a Camaro Cold Air Intake

In terms of installing an aftermarket air intake system, it’s really pretty simple. You will likely need to disconnect the negative battery terminal first, which will help reset the system. Loosen the associated hose clamps and unscrew the MAF sensor from your factory air intake tube – be sure to keep this tucked away somewhere safe as it can be expensive to replace. Then slide the air intake tube off of the throttle body and remove the air box and tube. At this point, you should be all set to install a new cold air intake.

If you watched the video from Lonestar Hawaiian above, one of the nicest features of this cold air intake system is that it is designed to be bolted right into place. Fit the new one into place (which may take a little adjustment), and bolt it down. Super easy. Within 20-30 minutes, you can have a brand new, performance-boosting, jaw-dropping cold air intake on your Chevy Camaro ZL1. The results? It looks fantastic and makes your car sound like a Camaro ought to sound. As Lonestar Hawaiian notes in the video, it may not be a dramatic change to your fuel economy. But who really cares about the gas efficiency when you’re talking about maximizing horsepower and going faster?
